A brain child of Professor H.M. Namal Priyantha, Director of the Postgraduate institute of Science, Professor Saluka Kodituwakku, Chairperson of the Board of Study of Statistics and Computer Science, Professor Athula Perera, Coordinator of the Masters in Computer Science (batch of 2013/2014) and the Students of the Masters in Computer Science (batch of 2013/2014), the Computer Science Alumni Association of the Postgraduate Institute of Science of the University of Peradeniya was brought into existence on the 15th of November 2015 with the initial humble aims of:
Bringing together students from all batches of Computer Science Postgraduate Diploma, M.Sc, M.Phil, and Ph.D programmes carried out at PGIS since its inception in year 2000.
Expressing gratitude to our Alma Mater by contributing in all ways possible in order to fulfil her aims and objectives in providing, promoting and developing higher education in science.
Regrouping the best minds produced by the Postgraduate Institute of Science, so that research contributions to the field of Computer Science can continue to increase in quality.
The interim committee will carry out the arduous task of bringing prospective members together,designing the constitution of the association, and organising the first meeting of the Alumni until their duties will be be taken over by the newly appointed committee members at the first general elections of the association to be held in the near future.
