The course will provide an opportunity to those who wish to acquire competence in Advanced Organic Chemistry. The course is compulsory for PGIS students registered for M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in areas related to organic chemistry. The course will be useful specially for General Degree or Applied Science students to gain an in depth knowledge of organic chemistry for postgraduate studies in the areas related to organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, natural products, pharmacognosy, biological chemistry, chemical ecology, etc. locally or abroad.

Course contents (60 hrs - 4 credits):

     Biosynthesis and Biomolecules (15 hrs),
     Advanced Spectroscopy (15 hrs),
     Organic Synthesis (15 hrs),
     Structure, Reactivity and Stereochemistry (15 hrs),
     Tutorial Discussions,
     Seminar Presentation

Venue:
Lectures will be conducted at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science,
University of Peradeniya.

Time:
Saturdays from 1000 to1500 hrs starting from 25th April 2009.

Rs. 10,000.00
